Ruth E. Wyman

Ruth E. Wyman worked as an associate with Robert G. Kirchner Law Office for nearly seven years before opening Ruth E. Wyman Law Office LLC. At Robert G. Kirchner Law Office, Ruth's work primarily focused on family law matters, including divorce, custody, maintenance (alimony), child support, college contribution, removal, and orders of protection. She also prepared and argued several family law cases on appeal to the Fourth District Appellate Court in Springfield. In addition to her work in family law cases, Ruth has also successfully represented clients in expungement and sealing of criminal records, election law matters, and a variety of other civil and criminal cases in municipal, state, administrative, and federal courts.

Ruth practices frequently in Champaign, Piatt, and Ford County courts, and has represented clients and argued cases in the Fourth District (Illinois) Appellate Court in Springfield as well as the Seventh Circuit (U.S) Court of Appeals in Chicago.

Ruth received the East Central Illinois Women Attorneys Association (ECIWAA) Roberta Bishop Johnson Community Service Award in 2005 and the Champaign-Urbana Area Projects (CUAP) Distinguished Community Advocate Award (with Robert G. Kirchner) in 2008.

Ruth is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Champaign County Bar Association, and the Family Law Committee of the Champaign County Bar Association.

Prior to graduating from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2004 and becoming licensed to practice law in Illinois later that same year, Ruth worked as a housing counselor with the Champaign-Urbana Tenant Union, and served on the Urbana City Council for 2 terms (eight years), retiring in 2005 after completing her second term. Ruth has also served for several years as president of the Champaign County chapter of the National Organization for Women (NOW).
